First OTA Firmware update for ASUS PadFone rolls out
After my review on the padfone, i noticed a few bugs. The error “com.android.phone” keeps popping out everytime the phone boots up. It persists for about 10 minutes unless you try doing manual search for the network and keep toggling for the3G switch. There were a few other reports as well including non-working mics or speakers and crashes in the camera app.
Fortunately, Asus has kept it’s promise and has delivered the first OTA update for the firmware. It’s available now for all units that came from Taiwan and should roll out to other countries as early as next month.
The new firmware is named “IML74K.CHT_PadFone-9.18.8.41_CHT_9.1.15-0,” and has been reported to fix the bugs including keyboard layouts, camera crashes, network errors among many others.
Sadly, there’s no log list yet but i’ll update this log once it’s available. The log should show what fixes were brought in by the firmware update.
The OTA update itself is 127MB and will take about 5-10 minutes to install. I recommend using wifi to install for a more efficient download and install.
ENJOY YOUR PADFONES!
